Using our most advanced mesh radio, The RapidLink, enables a network architecture that provides a rapidly deployed, reliable secure wireless network for heavy and severe-duty situations. This architecture is ideal when conventional data networking is impractical due to cost, deployment difficulty or delay, or lack of mobility.

It provides completely untethered connectivity. Every RapidLink node is a wireless router that directly or indirectly connects to every other node by forwarding data between neighbors until the data reaches its final destination.

This wireless peer-to-peer forwarding of data eliminates the need for any wired networking infrastructure, traditionally the most costly, burdensome, and time-consuming component of the network. Eliminating the need for a wired network infrastructure greatly reduces the cost and time to deploy a network.

Users increase coverage area by simply adding station nodes to extend network reach. The network automatically discovers and assimilates new nodes as they enter the area. RapidLink architecture utilizes proactive Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR) protocol standards (IETF RFC 3626) to create a resilient multi-vendor TCP/IP environment. RapidLink nodes enter, leave, and move within the network on an ad-hoc basis. The network monitors continually and predetermines optimal wireless routes to any destination. If a node fails or becomes compromised, neighboring nodes automatically reconfigure the mesh network to reroute traffic.

Dynamic discovery and reconfiguration of the network enables mobility in environments where nodes are frequently coming, going, moving. Nodes can be fixed, fixed-mobile, or all-mobile. Vehicle-mounted RapidLink station nodes connect vehicles in a mobile IP network while automatically connecting the vehicle network to ground-based RapidLink networks as they enter within range of coverage areas. The RapidLink network provides complete connectivity between every node within the network and permits the back-haul of data to outside private or public networks using satellite uplinks or wide-area networks such as fiber-optic, 3G, and GPRS.

Mobility and wide coverage – The RapidLink architecture operates with no wired infrastructure; its peer-to-peer mesh architecture creates a greatly expanded and flexible area of coverage. Station nodes can be mounted on vehicles; portable battery operated units can be drop placed to expand the area of coverage; backhaul through satellite or WAN radios can tie the network into private and public networks.

Security – The entire RapidLink network is secured by utilizing FIPS 140-2 compliant encryption standards between every station to meet security requirements of the most demanding applications for Federal, Health, and Financial market users.
